History: The Lydia Class is the only adult Sunday School class at River Road
Church with a membership exclusively of women. It was established
in 1958 and merged with the Fitcher-Williams Class in 1996. The
class is named for Lydia, an industrious woman, a dealer in purple. She
became a Christian under the influence of Paul, and was, in turn,
an influence on her family. Lydia opened her home to others,
making it a place of Christian fellowship (Acts 16:11-15).
