and Lisa Cipolletti at 527-2828, or Mark
and Jennifer Pounders at 288-3570. The class has
developed a comprehensive guide on the class and its members that
will assist new members in feeling at home and well informed quickly.
Social
Activities, Care Groups and Outreach:
The
Smart Class works to enhance regular Sunday School class with
outreach to each other and the community.
Socials:
The Class enjoys monthly socials. Events in 2004 included:
a Mars/Venus Nights Out where the men ate at one restaurant and
women at another; a Easter Egg Hunt, Marriage Enrichment Retreat,
Picnics at Maymont Children's Farm, Luau Potluck Pool Party, Halloween
party and Christmas party. About 75% of our events are with the
kids and 25% are adult only.
Care
Groups:
The
class is organized into five Care groups. These Care groups help
us support each other more easily. When a class member is in need,
their care group leader will coordinate outreach efforts to them.
For example, if someone has a death or a birth, the care group
leaders will coordinate with the class for meals to be taken.
Outreach:
A
class member is a representative on the Board of Missions and
reports to us each month on how we can help. The class supports
mission programs and also does CARITAS, Hull Street Shelter and
Christmas Mother (or other Christmas giving).
