The Sanctuary Organ
The Sanctuary organ was installed in 1970 by the M. P. Moller Organ Company, Hagerstown, Maryland. Consisting of sixty-five ranks, this versatile instrument has been hailed as one of the best examples of Moller work and is a good example of the "American Classic Organ."
Recitals of given regularly on this instrument, sponsored by the Church and on occasion by the Richmond Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Recent recitals have been given by Peter Richard Conte, Grand Court Organist of the Wanamaker Organ in Lord & Taylor, Philadelphia; John Scott, Organist-Choirmaster, St. Paul's Cathedral, London; Frederick Swann, former organist at Riverside Church, New York, and the Crystal Cathedral; and Olivier Latry, organist at the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Paris.
The Chapel Organ
The Chapel organ was installed in 1989 by the M. P. Moller Organ Co. and was a gift of the late Elizabeth Gottwald. Consisting of two manuals and five ranks, this instrument serves the chapel of River Road Church for small services of worship, funerals, and weddings. |
